Lemon & Water
I hopped on the lemon water train a few months ago (probably around New Years) and haven’t looked back since! Lemon water is like natures simplest elixir that is perfect to start your day out with!
Lemon is packed with nutrients like vitamin C, potassium, pectin fibre, iron, calcium, vitamin B-6 and many others!
Just a few of the benefits of drinking lemon water include weight loss, improved energy and mood, fights colds and flu with all of its vitamin C, aids digestion, freshens your skin, reduces phlegm, cleanses the liver, reduces hunger cravings throughout the day and reduces blemishes. That’s a lot of yes!
Even when I travel I can always find lemons so you can have lemon water no matter where you are! Squeeze half a lemon into your morning water everyday to get these amazing benefits.
Small Work Out
While not all of us have a lot of time in the morning try to sneak in a quick workout before you head to work! Working out in the morning boosts your mood and releases endorphins so you’re starting your day out happy! I like to do cardio in the mornings but anything that gets your heart rate up will do. Try jumprope, running up and down the stairs or power walking. Try this 7 – Minute workout my boyfriend swears by to get your heart rate up!
Skin Care Routine
I’m that person who loves splashing cold water on their face to get that little energy kick in the morning. Starting off your day with fresh feeling skin leaves you feeling awake and ready to take on the day! Plus it’s important to wash off any sweat and dirtiness from your sleep (I have nightmares so I sweat a lot.. gross!).
If you know me by now you’ll know I love my healthy breakfasts! In the summer I like to start off my morning with a blueberry smoothie and during the winter where I am freezing in our Canadian weather I start my morning with blueberry oatmeal. Blueberries are my favourite because they are a natural antioxidant and help reduce stomach fat. Check out my Mermaid Bowl too!
This is more of my weekend routine since I shower at night during the week but on the weekends after my morning coffee I put my coffee grounds to good use! You can just use coffee grounds or add some olive oil to them but in the morning (or anytime) use your fresh grounds as a body scrub all over. This will not only wake up your skin but it also reduces cellulite! And you smell like coffee so that’s amazing too.
It’s so easy to wake up and begin the day negatively by dreading work. One of the best things we can do for our minds it to remain positive because our thinking affects everything! I am a stressed out/ anxious person so it’s important for me to be as positive as I can be or else the negativity will spiral out of control and then it’s that much harder for me to be positive!
Pick up a new positive mantra and tell yourself how awesome everything is! Right now my mantra is a simple and effective one – “I Am Positive Energy.” Positive energy attracts positive energy so be a positive ray of sunshine to start your morning out right!
