I don’t use the word ‘perfect’ lightly.
When I do it’s when I’m dreaming of far off places and hotel rooms with coffee and a view or the feeling of rain in the air while exploring cobble streets..
So when I say our romantic anniversary was damn near perfect you know I mean it.
This weekend was wonderful. It was Aaron’s and I’s 2nd year anniversary so we spent the weekend celebrating since the real date was on the Sunday.
Aaron booked us a room at the Matrix Hotel, our favourite home away from home, where he had a bottle on Kim Crawford on ice and gifts on the table. We drank some wine while opening gifts before our wine tasting (we really like wine! …and got really drunk..).
We both are goofballs and ended up getting each other a gift from the same company. The Great Frog London.
After our first trip to London we hunted down The Great Frog and had rings made for ourselves 2 years ago and have been in love ever since.
This time around Aaron got me the rose earnings which I absolutely adore and I got him the skull pendent with a long black strap so it sits below his chest.
After gifts and love you’s we went to the wine tasting where we tried (I failed) not to stuff our plates full of cheese and crackers. As usual the Matrix service was perfect and the wine tasting was as good as I remembered.
A short cab ride later we arrive to our dinner reservations to Zinc, a renowned restaurant in Edmonton with banana bread pudding to die for.
We got a bottle of wine, no regrets, an order of cauliflower croquets and then I got a custom dish of roasted vegetables with a mushroom gorgonzola side with a cherry compote. It was amazing and everything was cooked perfectly. I love being able to go to a restaurant and the dish is slightly different so I know everything is freshly prepared when a different chef is working that night.
We ended the night at Zinc with banana bread pudding and as an anniversary gift we were given a jar of spiced jam. I thought it was cute!
It’s hard to make dates perfect as something always goes wrong in some way or another but this anniversary everything was perfect. The lighting was perfect, the food was perfect, the wine was fantastic as well as the hotel and of course, the love of my life, Aaron.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” position=”center”][vc_separator type=”transparent” position=”center”][vc_separator type=”transparent” position=”center”][vc_column_text]
What’s your idea of a romantic anniversary date? What are some ways you have celebrated? And if you’re single no worries! Tell me what your perfect date would be. Right now mine’s a bottle of white wine and attempting to make tempura!
