Awesome Ways Getting Up At 5 Has Changed My Life

I never thought I would be one of those people. You know, those people who are awake at the crack of dawn who just seem like keeners?

I mean I wanted to. Getting up early always seemed like the thing to do but honestly who wants to get up at 5? Sleep is amazing! Especially in the winter when you are a warm cocoon of comfort. But after putting jet lag to good use, here I sit. And shockingly, I have become one of those people. And I love it! I never thought much on how getting up at 5 would change my life but now I know. It’s for the better.

Here’s how getting up at 5 has changed my life – for the better!

Here’s how getting up at 5 has changed my life for the better

Sleep better

I have never been a good sleeper. I would lay awake for hours and hours and before you knew it it would be 3:30AM and I had went to bed at 11. How annoying. Laying around restless for four hours was a nightmare. It’s like no matter what I did I just could not fall asleep! But all that changed once I started getting up at five in the morning. When I got up at five I would actually be tired by 8:30PM and by the time 9Pm rolled around I would hit the pillow and be out cold. It’s such an amazing feeling!! Even if I wake up at 6 I still find myself restless so 5AM is that magical time for me.

Productivity

When it’s just me and my cup of coffee I get it done. I don’t know what it is about being up at 5 in the morning but as soon as my coffees done pouring I am at my laptop writing away like there’s no tomorrow. I love it. I love feeling so productive and motivated.

Quiet time

In a busy world it’s so important to find some quiet time for yourself. I personally love how silent it is in the morning and find I’m much more creative and productive when I have that silence. Make a coffee or tea, cozy in with a book, check emails a little early. Do whatever it is you want in those magical morning hours.

Less stressed

How many days do we wake up and feel rushed to get out of the house for work? Stressing about what to wear, what to eat, should you shower, where’s your dry shampoo or what time is it?? When you’re up earlier you have that much more time to do things slowly, without the rush and the stress, so you can start your morning on a positive note. I’m a stressed out person so this really helps me stay zenned in the morning!

Coffee time

I love drinking coffee more than anything so this is also a main motivator to get out of bed! I like making myself a big cup of coffee in the morning (always after my lemon water) and be able to sit on the couch and go through emails without feeling the need to rush out the door. Getting up at 5 means I can actually sip my coffee and enjoy it and let it sooooth my soul. I love coffee..

Stretching

I would loveeee to workout and go for runs in the morning but I never want to feel like I need to get off the treadmill. When I run it’s for stress so I run anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour depending on my mood. So if I run in the mornings I would half to cut myself short of time. And then I would also have to wait longer for coffee. Um.. no thank you. BUT, stretching on the other hand, is amazing to do in the mornings. Did you know you shouldn’t stretch before a workout? If you find time to stretch in the morning you wake up your muscles and it gets you ready to take on the day!

Early riser for sure! I’ve been getting up at 5:30am for the last 6 months and it has made me so much happier 🙂 I do a half hour workout, then make myself a cup of coffee and get some writing done before the rest of the house wakes. Love the feeling!

Isn’t it the best?! As I’m writing this everyone’s asleep and it’s raining outside so it’s a prefect morning setting that I think would be ruined if everyone else was awake 😛 You should teach me your ways about working out before coffee I think that would be so amazing to just get the workout out of the way and start the day fresh

I wake up at 4 in the morning because I need to be at work for 5!!!
It was a crazy adjustment to make but I did it. I love being the only person awake, one of the only people on the roads, and having time to check my emails in the morning. The quiet time is definitely something I relate to, even though I work in a gym so it’s bright and chaotic in there when I arrive. I think the drive to work is what zens me out and prepares me for the day.
It makes me wonder if I’ll continue waking up early if I don’t HAVE to for my job. I sure hope I will!

Wow 4am’s intense! That’s good you like it though I know some people would find that miserable. Something about quiet morning is so relaxing hey? In my Starbucks days I was at work at 530 and while it was quiet for the first hour it would be a million people by 6:30 all grumpy without their morning coffee!
I would be so impressed if you did! Would make my 5am seem like sleeping in 😛

I wish I could do that! I am a night owl and always wake up extremely late. I’ve been trying to make it my goal to wake up earlier these days..

I think it would be soooo hard to start getting up at 5 if I did have jet-lag. I used to set my alarm clock 10 minutes earlier everyday so it wasn’t one big shock when I would try and drag myself out of bed! Maybe that could work as little goals for you :]
      Thanks for commenting Tiffany!
