6 Girly Things To Do When You Have Nothing To Do

You know the feeling. You’ve come home from an exciting trip and you’re happy to be in your own bed, eating your own food and to be able to have a nice warm shower that actually works. But then day three rolls around and you start dallying around, walking aimlessly into rooms, start scrolling through Facebook and then eventually find yourself in the kitchen, the fridge door open again, for the 6th time looking for answers.

I think one of the hardest things about coming home is dealing with the change of pace! You’re go go go and then suddenly you’re all caught up on your TV series, your friends, your family ,your suitcase is still questionable but you’ll get there eventually (or be like me and wait till your next trip..) and then the ultimate reality check hits that you’re home and.. you’re bored.

I struggle with the aimlessness. I’m by myself 90% of the time when I’m home and sometimes my own company gets dull (not so much anymore thanks so snapchat. I literally burst into tears sometimes at those face mask things! Mines fernwehwolf if ya wanna add me <3)

So instead of opening up my fridge again I have put together a list of girly things to do when you have nothing to do!

6 Girly Things To Do When You Have Nothing To Do

Face mask! – I love face masks but never seem to do them! Make your own or buy a natural/fragrance free face mask! For an extra fun experience get your partner to join you in one! Nothings cuter than watching your boyfriend sit awkwardly with a face mask on. For a homemade face mask combine coconut oil and tea-tree oil, put it on cleansed skin before bed and wash it off in the morning! Voila! This combination will reduce redness and acne.

Do a hair treatment – Our hair takes a lot of abuse between haircuts and travelling. Wind, rain, snow, dust, sweat, cold water, hot water and everything in between. I find my hair especially dull and lifeless after travelling so when I come home I like to do a simple hair treatment! You can find hair treatments at almost any drug stores but you can get good quality treatments at Sephora or Lush. A good alternative is to make your own at home! Try mixing together olive oil, honey and coconut oil for soft and no frizz hair! Pinterest is an amazing place to find these DIY beauty treatments (If you want to follow me mines FERNWEHWOLF)

Try on some outfits – The best way to be camera ready is to prepare. “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” Don’t know how I feel about that quote but I think it fits nicely here! Style together some outfits you like and know you’ll be comfortable wearing. This also helps with those days you feel rushed or “have nothing to wear.”

Wash your makeup brushes – I’ve only done this about once in my lifetime and this is probably the least fun thing on this list. I always think to myself “I should go wash my brushes!” And then I never do it. I don’t know why, I’m assuming it’s laziness but I think it’s time I carved out five minutes and did the deed. When you don’t wash your brushes you are reapplying dirty/old makeup/skin cells on your face which leads to breakouts and unhappy skin. For clean brushes use a fragrance free anti bacterial soap and a little bit of olive oil, dab your brushes in the mixture, and then rub your brushes back and forth on the palm of your hand till the brushes come out clean! Rinse in water. When drying your brushes put them in a cup brush end down so the glue doesn’t wear out because of the soap and water. Michelle Phan has a great video on this! Check that out HERE

Mani Pedi – Treat yourself to a mani pedi and you won’t regret it! One of the most adult feelings I ever had was going to get a pedicure by myself one day. My mom had always taken me and I never really thought of it as something you do by yourself (blame that on my introvertness) so I was amazed at how much I enjoyed it! It’s a little bit of affordable luxury you don’t really think of giving yourself too often.

Get scrubbing – Who else loves exfoliating? I get these little red bumps on the back of my arms so to combat them I try to exfoliate as much as I can! My favourite exfoliants are coffee grinds from my morning coffee (you smell delicious and it helps reduce cellulite!) or mixing coconut oil, peppermint (or any extract) and 1/2 cup of sugar! You will smell like a Christmas candy.

  1. Cup O’ Coffee Face And Body Mask
  2. R&B Hair Moisturizer
  3.  Cupcake Face Mask
  4. Tea Tree Toner
  5. Wildfox Venice Canal Floral Sweater
  6. Gin & Rose Water Perfume
  7. Flowers. Just because

I hope you liked these girly things to do! Of course they aren’t just for girls boys can do these too! Who doesn’t love curing boredom with semi-productive things? Pampering yourself is something we should all do more often because we deserve to be treated and feel/smell amazing!

I always procrastinate on washing my makeup brushes! But I’m getting better at doing it regularly now because I love the feeling of freshly washed brushes on my skin.

I do so much of this all of the time! Sometimes I get distracted when I finally get home, and I become so unmotivated. A hot bath, a face mask and treating myself with a cup of tea really helps lift my spirits and I feel so much better after! Great tips love!

I would love to see a solo female’s guide to Japan! 🙂 My own trip is coming up this November for the autumn colours and I’m a little nervous going by myself.
