How To Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

We all struggle with comparison. I don’t know what it is about being human that makes us want to compare our lives with others but we do. And with this world of social media all we have to do is go on Instagram where we see these girls who lives look so perfect before we start comparing our lives with theirs. I know how easy it is to compare yourself to someone you’ve never met. I struggle with this daily. We compare our careers, appearance, relationships, homes and all these other things that leave us feeling inadequate.

Something I’m trying to learn is to not be jealous, but instead, motivated. Motivated to better my life and take inspiration from someone I admire! I mean why should I be jealous? We should be empowering each other because with this digital world there is room for all of us and we all have the power to make our own paths. And just because some take longer than others doesn’t their journey any less amazing!

How To Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

You’re farther than you think you are – The media is an asshole who likes to glamourize younger people’s success. They always throw people’s age’s around because that’s another way for us to compare ourselves. As if comparing looks wasn’t enough! But you know what? 30’s young. 40’s young. So who cares if you’re in your twenties and still figuring it out?

“Never stop doing your best just because someone doesn’t give you credit.”

Comparison will eat away at your mind – I know this from personal experience and understand how comparison will play mind games on you. No two people are on the same path. No one has the same experiences as you and you don’t have the same experiences as them. And that’s okay.

“Two things prevent us from happiness; living in the past and observing others.”

You have the power to change – Change is scary. But without change we will be in the same place so if you want to start doing something differently you’re going to have to accept change is inevitable. Embrace it! It’s a new adventure.

“Her success is not your failure.”

You control your life – If you are unhappy.. It’s because you’re doing something you don’t want to do. Don’t listen to anyone but yourself. What makes you happy? What are your passions? Answer your own questions before you ask anyone else. And if you can make the change then do it!

“What if I fall? Oh, my darling, what if you fly?”

Looks can be deceiving – While someone’s life may look perfect chances are it’s probably not. So don’t compare yourself to other peoples success because you don’t know how hard they might have worked to get there. We should all be rooting each other on because in this land of the internet there is room for everyone’s success!

“The reason why we struggle with insecurity is we compare our behind the scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.”

You’re unique – There is no one else like you. Use your story to define who you are and stay true to yourself. No one else can be you even if they tried.

“Everything else is easier when you don’t concern yourself with what everyone else is doing.”

We all have a journey and we all have our stories. Live life the way you want to and do it with passion <3

Love love love your post! It´s so incredibly hard not judging yourself when looking at other people: you always find something making you feel like you are less and not good enough.. But reading your words actually helps: it´s good to have someone reminding you about how actually good you are!
