K-Days Photo Diary With My Best Friend

deep fried cookie dough

Oh K-Days..

I’ve been going to this thing since I can remember. It’s sort of a tradition for Edmontonian’s and we used to go for the rides but now we mostly just go for the food and bands.

This year July Talk was preforming and after missing them at the Juno’s in Winnipeg I set the date on my calendar to see July Talk on July 20.

The hardest thing about K-Days now is deciding on how much deep fried food you can handle. Last year I discovered they had deep fried cookie dough (cookie dough and birthday cake are my favourite) and had tried a funnel cake for the first time ever. So I new this year those two things would be on my “to eat” list but then came the third option.. mini donuts or a vegan poutine?

The great thing about going with a friend is that you can split the food so you can split the guilt. Eventually we decided on splitting mini donuts and it was a good choice. I hadn’t had a mini donut in years.

After some food we met up with some friends to walk July Talk and the guy sounds exactly like he does on the radio. The girl on the other hand was just kind of yelling and doing weird things on stage. She’s still cute and cool but was just odd to watch onstage.

As July Talk was preforming the clouds started rolling in and we got trapped in a thunderstorm. I felt like I was 16 again running for my hard during a torrential downpour. It was a good night full of food, music and friends and definitely worth the $16 to get in.

Have you gone to any fairs or festivals this summer? Mini donut, elephant ear or deep fried cookie dough? Or would you do all of the above like me?! Sorry for the lack of posts my site wasn’t posting for some reason.

Hope you had a great long weekend!

    Hey Shelby :),
Gah! This K Days thing looks like so much fun!!! Here in NZ we don’t have fun fairs, but we do have these odd things called A&P shows, where kids get to parade around with their lambs and calves and win prizes; and stalls sell home-baked goodies.

I loved having a peek into your day though! I would have definitely tried the deep fried cookie dough (after eating the Poutine, too, of course) if it was on offer, I have never tried such a thing ;D.
Funny about the concert though – I had a similar experience when I saw Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros – they were all cool and stuff until one of them took the mic and started yelling weird things into it for about three minutes. Drugs, maybe? Tehe

I feel like I’d have a lot more fun hanging with calves and lambs than I would Kdays! That sounds adorable.

You’ve never had a poutine?! It’s pretty much fries, cheese and gravy a.k.a. a delicious heart attack 😛 That’s weird I could feel (and did feel) awkward at random yelling into mics.. it’s like nooooo.. don’t do that 😛

      cheers madam!
