6 Ways To Look Amazing After A Long Haul Flight

In this modern world of jet setters and dream chasers we are always trying to put our best face forward. We see celebrities and bloggers all gliding off the planes as if they had a 5 Star snooze, their makeup team somewhere hidden, and we can help but wonder – How do they do it? Luckily the secrets to looking flawless after a long haul flight aren’t a mystery anymore. In fact – I think it’s become an art form. All you need is a little makeup bag and a mirror. I know how room constraints can hinder you, especially in those tiny economy seats. Here are some tips I want to share to help you look flawless after a long haul flight.

6 Secrets To Looking Flawless After A Long Haul Flight

1. Watch What You Eat

Try to stay away from pastas and bread before a long haul flight. Sticking to fresh fruit, veggies and fats (avocado, etc.) will help you feel less heavy on a plane. Airplane food is less than desirable and I always feel soooo bloated after I eat. I try to prep at home or buy something freshly made at the airport. And instead of sugary or salty snacks I opt for fresh fruit, veggies, nuts and some other healthy snacks. I’m currently addicted to Lara Bars, they are a lifesaver when you need a sweet treat.

2. Water’s Your Best Friend

Hydrate hydrate hydrate.. Water is so important for your health and keeping everything working in your body. I am a coffee fiend. But not only does coffee amp up my flight anxiety, but it drys out my skin that much more on an airplane. If you want to look flawless after a long haul flight you can’t have tired dry skin. It’s an easy fix thought. Just stay hydrated and keep your skin moisturized. My two moisture secrets are fresh lotus preserve cream and this face mist.

3. Skip the makeup

If you have a lot of makeup on it’s probably going to dry out your skin and look greasy by the end of the flight. What I like to do is use my Dior Tinted Moisturizer as a base, then I fill in my brows and add a bit of contour on my cheeks. Easy peasy. And I can easily wipe it off with a wet nap. Just be careful of what makeup remover you use because my organic one made my skin all rashy so if you’re like me get one for sensitive skin. Also, most companies make travel sized beauty products so it shouldn’t be a problem to bring any products you might need on the plane with you!

4. Wear simple outfits

There are so many outfits you can wear on a long haul flight but I alway go for the comfiest one. Sweatpants are in style (not that it would matter anyways) and so is the ‘laid-back’ look, so I like to wear a pair of grey sweats, either my Nike sneakers or my Chelsea ankle boots and a baggy top. Top it off with a leather jacket if it’s cold outside.

5. Braid Your Hair

This is one of my favourite tips. Since I have long hair that does absolutely nothing but lay on my face; I like to have it out of hands reach so I don’t make it even greasier by touching it the entire flight. Braiding your hair or even doing a twist bun on the top of your hair will get it off of your skin. When you’re about to land you can take it out and it will be amazingly curly. Tassel it a bit before departing the plane and you will get a bit of extra volume.

6. Get Your Beauty Sleep

No matter how hard you try you can’t beat a good nights sleep. I know for one I cannot fall asleep on a plane and am away jealous when I look to the isle next to me and Aaron’s passed out as if he was at home. But something that has helped me “rest” is bringing a sleep mask. I only started using sleep masks about a year ago but they have been a life saver. With a sleep mask I can feel myself dozing off more than I ever could without it. And if you still can sleep – Sunglasses are always in style.

The last thing to do is to drink a coffee, be patient when de-boarding and smile!

Less makeup is definitely best! And I like the idea of putting your hair in a braid to keep it tame.

Minimising make up is a great trick, even on short flights I used to fall asleep and wake up with mascara running around all over the place! Sooo hard to watch what you eat depending on your departure location, it’s too much to deprive yourself of one last bowl of pasta in Italy or burgers in America! xxx
