Monday Inspiration: Jay Alvarrez

For those of you who don’t know, and honestly I didn’t either till last week, Jay Alvarrez is a thrill loving teenager living in “Dream World.” Taking over tumblr and almost every other social media he is known for his inspiring lifestyle on Instagram, Tumblr and YouTube videos (two to be exact).

Who wouldn’t love watching his videos?

They take you through his exhilarating world of sky diving, dirt biking, shark swimming, and surfing just to name a few of the crazy activities Jay gets up to. His adrenaline rushing, inspiring, layback lookout on life if something to take in.

I don’t think I could ever go skydiving and definitely not shark swimming but the way he and his friends film their adventures makes me question how much I am holding myself back simply because of fear. If we weren’t so afraid of the unknown then nothing could stop us from concurring our fears and ultimately- our dreams.

Yes what he does can be dangerous but what’s more risky- Living a life accepting the dangers and going for it anyway or living a fearful life where you spend all your time saying no?

Life happens outside of our comfort zone. As we get older we become more fearful and cautious and I admit I am no crazy sport extremest but it does make me think of what else there is out there for me to experience.

Maybe it is trying to surf again or hiking up mountains or maybe it’s the simple pleasures of being outside; experiencing life instead of staying inside and watching others experience it for you.

It makes you question your comfort zone and it definitely inspires you to break them. So get crazy, get dirty, run that marathon and experience life the way you want to. People say life is short but it is the longest thing we’ll ever experience. I hope his videos inspire you the way they inspired me!

Go out there an kill it my darlings.

I don’t own or take any credit for these videos and photos. All photos and videos belong to Jay.

    Hey Shelby! 🙂
Wow, those photos… Anything that gorgeous just makes me want to jump out the door and run through the fields ;). I see what you are saying here, and I think you have a great point! Getting older, we do tend to avoid anything dirty or complicated or dangerous. But screw that, I say! Yesterday I went on an adventure, scrambling up the face of a cliff with a few friends, simply because ‘why not’?! ;D. One of them was trying to find crystals with a pick axe, and the rest of us were just trying to make it up without falling into oblivion tehe. Adventures like that are small, but that they still push my boundaries :).
Oh, and I think your photos are well on the way to reaching major wanderlust status!!!!
