When I went to Vancouver an visited Chinatown I was slightly underwhelmed with what we found. It was Canada’s biggest Chinatown but sadly it didn’t really live up to my expectations. Everything was closed and didn’t look to inviting, although there were a few small restaurants I wouldn’t have minded checking out, so when I got to Victoria and wandered by their Chinatown accidentally I was more than thrilled.
When we found the small street, we were actually on our way to Jam Cafe, it was full of falling petals and trinket shops that made me quickly fall in love with the little area. It was so charming! We took a few photos and wandered down Fan Tan Alley where we found some shop gems and a trinket shop that had small corridors that lead through the building and onto the streets. It was a really cool find!
Fan Tan Alley had been on my Victoria to do list since it was apparently a Harry Potter “Diagon Alley” look alike and they were right. Albeit small, it was cute and quirky and worth the little trip.
Chinatown was so photogenic that day!
