What To Do On A Weekend Getaway To Paris

We all fantasize about a weekend getaway to Paris and indulging in the Parisian decadence. Paris is just this timeless world and the Parisian lifestyle is something to be admired. After all there is a reason why people say do as the Parisians do! Or maybe it’s the Romans but you get the picture. I have had the pleasure of having weekend trips to Paris with the love of my life quite a lot recently. I’ve been there four times this year and I still can’t believe it.

I am so happy to have a partner that is just as in love with travel as I am and I know how lucky I am to say these things. It’s kind of surreal when you take a step back! And while I’m no expert (yet) on Paris I do have a few favourite places to go when I leave Charles de Gaulle!

A Weekend Getaway To Paris

My Favourite Sights

I’m one for the classics when it comes to visiting Paris. While finding off the beaten path destinations are still my favourite I always feel compelled to see the “must see” sights in Paris. It’s so much fun watching people see Paris for the first time and I remember how I was my first time in Paris. My favourite sights to see are Arc de Triumph, The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre and the Tuileries Garden.

Favourite Things To Do

When I get to Paris the first things I want to do is indulge. Laduree and Angelina have one of my favourite macaroons so I either grab a chestnut one or something chocolaty. I prefer sweet to fruity flavours. The hot chocolate from both places are also amazing so don’t be afraid to grab a cup. I don’t think I’ve seen my boyfriend grin so hard when I asked him if it was good.

After a quick treat head to Tuilleries Garden and make your way to Point Alexandre Bridge. And you can’t go wrong when it comes to walking along the Seine River and you can either follow it to the Eiffel Tower or head the other direction and follow the river to the Notre Dame. There you will find the St. Germain area which is home to all the cute restaurants and little shops. Without a doubt my favourite area of Paris. The next is the Latin Quarters.

My Favourite Cheap Vegetarian Lunch

I stumbled into Bon Angle by accident one day and was so thrilled that they were an all vegetarian restaurant. I have a weak stomach when it comes to too much dairy and I crave lettuce so this place was an amazing find for my vegetarian self. The falafels were delicious and the prices were so cheap. Eating out in Paris gets expensive, especially if you are on the Canadian dollar, so to find a 6 Euro meal that actually fill you up is pretty awesome. It’s located in the 14th arrondissement not too far from the Edgar Quinet Metro Station. Also I definitely recommend getting off at this station because each street is almost food themed and one of the streets is all crepes.

My Favourite Matcha Latte

Cafe Kistune has to be my new favourite places in Paris. I think it’s the adorable cup that has me visiting there. As a Japanese lover from a very young age I know “Kitsune” means fox so maybe that’s another little attachment I have to the place. Grab a latte or one of their yummy teas and roam around Paris. They also have little fox cookies which are super cute and yummy.

My Favourite Breakfast Spots

Bread & Roses has the best High Tea Bread ever. It comes with homemade organic strawberry jam and it is sooooooo good. I was expecting a tiny piece of bread but instead I got this thickly sliced bread of amazingness. If you are like me and always letting your inner piggy out try one of their croissants as well. Another amazing place to grab breakfast is Seasons Cafe. I recommend taking an Uber to get there and then walking back down to the Notre Dame after having an Instagram ready meal. Their lattes are also unreal so be sure to try one.

My Favourite Place To Go Shopping

I have only been to Galerie Lafayette once but that was enough to get me hooked. It has everything you need from high fashion like Louise Vuitton to Top Shop and Urban Outfitters. Upstairs you will find little Paris trinkets, expensive home decor, chocolates, and then at the top you have a rooftop. We all love a good rooftop so here is a great place to check out the view.
