For me, Greece has always been about Santorini. Mykonos was just a bonus place I was travelling too because it is one of the most popular Greece travel destinations. I had no idea how much I was going to love Mykonos. It is hands down one of the most amazing places I have ever been which took Aaron and I by such surprise. The gorgeous sand beaches, the blue crystal waters, the freshest food and a vibe that was something akin to poolside Vegas. People come to Mykonos to hangout, relax in the sun and do some day drinking which I can definitely get behind.
And we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay for all this than Kosmoplaz Beach Resort. This resort blew me away. I have done quite a bit of travelling and have stayed in all kinds of hotels and this one has made it to my top 3.
We took a ferry from Santorini which was a painful five hours, I definitely recommend taking the speed ferry and spending the extra $50 to get there faster. But once the ferry docked and we were released like cattle, we caught the eye of our hotel shuttle. Staying at the Kosmoplaz entitles you to one ferry transfer for free.
The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive to the Kosmoplaz is their amazing service. The staff here was so kind and friendly, they explained the island and offered their own shuttle as well as informing there was a bus a five minute walk away. The bus went to Mykonos Town and it only took 10-15 minutes. Right beside the bus station was a convenience store with all your alcohol and snacking needs.
We were guided to our room and omg.. I had such a stupid grin stretched across my face. Aaron and I took one look at each other and raced to the view. I decided to book the double room with a sea view, it was more expensive but I knew I wanted to make Mykonos extra special and relaxing, and the best way to do that was to have a private patio facing the water. It was worth every penny.
We faced the beautiful Aegean Sea, right on the beach of Platis Yialos. The water was so clear and so blue it looked just like the photos. My photos don’t do it justice.
Trying to leave the room and the patio was painful – so we barely left.
If you’re not feeling like a swim in the sea there is a pool and a hot tub you can enjoy at the hotel. And if you aren’t feeling like leaving and wanting room service you can order from one of their restaurants. Breakfast is also included and was so much more than a cheap continental breakfast. It was well prepared and thought out. Fresh coffee and greek yogurt is what I lived on here.
Within 10 Minutes Drive
The bus is cheap and convenient and a perfect way to get to Mykonos Town. You can spend an afternoon exploring the photographers haven of streets and find the infamous windmills. Grab a seaside bite at Little Venice.
You can rent an ATV and drive around the island exploring all the different beaches. Aaron and I were so in love with the resort and our beach that we spent most of our time there. You can’t beat being steps away from the water.
